community and business leaders can do to help Hosoi during his trial which has been rescheduled until sometime in September, 2001. 1) Write a character reference letter to his judge Mary P. I just got off the phone with Christian Hosoi. He is alive, well, and in good spirits. He has had a lawyer take him for $30.000.00, the Hosoi family life savings, and leave him in a worse scenario than before his "help". He and his wife Jennifer are going to Hawaii to start a new plan of attack. Part of the new plan is to bombard the Judge with letters of Character Reference, an effective tool in persuading Judges .They are a lot more likely to reduce or release someone who has a huge support group and a fan base. He wants to be out to spread the Lords word and do everything in his power to influence kids to stay away from drugs. He has already through the help and support of many others of many others set up a skate park in a church parking lot. I believe he is capable to conquer far more reaching efforts on the outside in direct contact with kids telling his true life story. For those of us privileged enough to have! heard a tale told by a master storyteller such as Christian, you know the influence he has. Now imagine that power focused on a positive message for children. I know because I've seen it happen at places like Woodward camp where he could easily captivate a whole barn full of kids. I'm asking you to take a moment to write a letter Just say who you are and why you feel that Christian Hosoi isn't a hardened criminal who needs to be locked away for 10 years. It doesn't have to be long and it doesn't have to be a masterpiece but keep a copy for yourself so when you see him at a demo you can show him you helped. I have been a friend of Christian's since the early nineties when he was hired to be a special guest counselor at the same summer camp that I was teaching at in Woodward Penn. My life changed drastically spending just two short weeks with Christian. We became friends and traveled the world a few years later. His advice and techniques helped me tremendously. I transformed myself from a kid dreaming of leaving the mid-west to a World class professional athlete. The positive effects of Christian's presence in my life is something I can never repay.
